Selections of Skilled Migration

Australian skilled migration refers to the process of obtaining permanent residency in Australia by meeting the specified skilled migration criteria set by the Australian Department of Home Affairs. The Australian skilled migration program aims to attract individuals with high skills, professional expertise, or work experience to fill the labor demand in various fields in Australia.

The Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) allows applicants to immigrate to Australia without the need for sponsorship from an Australian employer.

The visa is assessed based on the applicant's occupational skills, work experience, age, educational background, and language proficiency to determine the score.

Successful applicants can live and work anywhere in Australia.

The Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) is a skilled migration pathway offered jointly by the Australian government and a specific state or territory government. This visa allows applicants to immigrate to Australia based on nomination by the state or territory government they have been nominated by.

Applicants need to be nominated by a specific state or territory in Australia and must meet the specific occupation list and other requirements of that state or territory.

Successful applicants need to reside and work in the nominated state or territory for a certain period of time.

The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491) is a temporary skilled migration visa designed for applicants who wish to settle in regional or remote areas of Australia. This visa requires applicants to be nominated by a specific Australian regional government and to reside and work in the designated area after obtaining the visa.

Applicants need to meet the occupational list and other requirements of the region. Similar to state-sponsored visas, successful applicants are required to live and work in the nominated region for a certain period of time.

The Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) is designed for international students who have completed specific courses in Australia. It is specifically tailored for students who have recently completed their studies in Australia and obtained the corresponding qualifications. This visa facilitates international students in Australia to search for employment, thereby allowing them to transition towards obtaining permanent residency through the Temporary Graduate visa pathway.

The requirements for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) include completing at least two academic years (92 weeks) of study, with actual study time not less than 16 months. Additionally, applicants need to demonstrate English proficiency with an overall IELTS score of at least 6.5 (with no individual band score less than 5.5). All studies must be completed within Australia.

The 485 visa has two streams:

  • Graduate Work stream: This is for applicants who have completed an eligible qualification in Australia in a specific occupation and meet other relevant requirements. Graduates holding this visa can work in Australia to gain work experience related to their field of study.
  • Post-Study Work stream: This is for applicants who have completed a higher education degree (including bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees) in Australia. Graduates holding this visa can live and work in Australia to gain work experience related to their field of study.

The Skilled Regional Visa (subclass 887) is a permanent residency visa in Australia designed for temporary visa holders who have lived and worked in designated regional areas for a certain period. This visa is specifically for holders of the Subclass 489 temporary visa, allowing them to transition from the temporary residency of the 489 visa to permanent residency.

When applying for the 887 visa, there is no need to reapply for occupational assessment, resubmit English proficiency scores, or undergo scoring again.

Applicants must meet the residency and employment time requirements and pass the immigration department's review. Upon successfully obtaining the visa, applicants can permanently reside and work in Australia.

The MINT program in the Northern Territory (Migration Innovation and Territory) is a technology migration initiative linked to fund investments, aimed at raising startup capital for the innovation ecosystem in the Northern Territory.

The program requires applicants to invest $515,000 AUD in Northern Territory government bonds and funds. It is the only Australian program specifically open to overseas applicants for direct application.

The Northern Territory government leads and manages this project, aiming to attract high-skilled talents to the Northern Territory while contributing to the region's economic development.

As of now, approximately 200 applicants have successfully applied for the MINT program, collectively completing investments totaling around 100 million AUD.

This project provides a special immigration pathway for high-skilled talents intending to immigrate to Australia, while also injecting funds and vitality into the Northern Territory's economy and innovation ecosystem.

The Global Talent Independent (GTI) Visa (subclass 858) is one of the visa categories established by the Australian government to attract top global talents. This visa aims to attract individuals with outstanding performance, international reputation, and leadership abilities in specific fields to work in Australia. Applicants for the GTI visa do not require employer sponsorship; instead, they are nominated by globally recognized professional organizations, academic institutions, or professionals endorsed by the Australian government.

Applicants for the GTI visa must demonstrate excellence in one of Australia's seven priority sectors. These sectors include advanced manufacturing and digital engineering, aviation, high-tech agriculture, medical technology, energy and mining technology, fintech and quantum information, advanced water resource management and environmental services, and space and advanced manufacturing materials.

Successful applicants will be granted a visa valid for five years, allowing them to work and live in Australia, with the option to apply for permanent residency thereafter. Additionally, holders of the GTI visa may benefit from expedited application processing and more flexible visa conditions, such as exemption from regional restrictions.
